IVR stands for Interactive Voice Response it is also referred to as Digital Receptionist.
When a customer dials your office you can have an IVR answer the call and play a pre-recorded message. You may record this message yourself or have a professional studio record the message for you.
The message can give the user options, for example
"Welcome to company ABC, please select 1 for support, 2 for sales and 3 for accounts, or alternatively hold for an operator"
When the user selects an option, the caller can be sent to:
- A user's extension.
- A hunt list.
- A call queue (automatic call distribution).
